Another Round (2020)

The film Otra ronda (Another Round) presents a sociological experiment where four professors attempt to improve their lives by maintaining a constant blood alcohol level. The work acutely explores the temptation to seek easy solutions to personal dissatisfaction, showing how alcohol can initially offer a false sense of freedom and confidence. However, the narrative does not shy away from the destructive consequences of this choice, leading the characters down a path of personal and familial deterioration. Although the film exposes the pain and the fall, its ambiguous tone, especially in the denouement, can leave the viewer without a clear condemnation of the initial premise. It is a profound reflection on human fragility and the search for fullness, but one that requires mature discernment to interpret its message regarding alcohol consumption.
