In-depth analysis

Dragon is a martial arts thriller that uses the language of wuxia to tell a story of genuine redemption. Liu Jin-xi has abandoned his past as a martial arts master and assassin to build an honest life with his family. The arrival of an obsessive detective triggers a conflict between the identity he chose and the one he tried to bury. The film does not glorify violence — it presents it as part of a past from which the protagonist has deliberately fled. The narrative arc is classic: a man who seeks peace but must confront the consequences of what he once was. The violence is intense and stylized, with visual effects that show the internal damage to the body, but it is at the service of the plot; it is neither gratuitous nor sadistic. Family values are the driving force behind the protagonist's decisions: every choice he makes is to protect his loved ones. It is mature action cinema that requires tolerance for physical violence, but without an ideological agenda. Appropriate only for adults with mature judgment.
