In-depth analysis

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a biting satire of the world of pop stars, in the style of This Is Spinal Tap, which follows Conner4Real, an arrogant rapper whose downfall forces him to rethink his life. The narrative arc celebrates values such as humility, loyal friendship, and personal responsibility: the protagonist learns to value the truth of his friends above fleeting fame, apologizing for stealing credit and prioritizing being a 'good person'. This final message, sweet and hopeful, contrasts with the comic chaos that precedes it. However, the form drags the content into adult territory: a prolonged scene focuses on a man's completely exposed penis, another shows bare breasts and nudity in the groin area, along with a music video of weddings between same-sex couples in a song that advocates for 'equal rights' and asks for prayers for them. The language is a torrent of profanity (around 80 'f-words', 60 's-words' and more), alcohol and marijuana abound in parties and explicit consumption, with slapstick violence such as wolves attacking people or ridiculous falls. Although the satire criticizes celebrity narcissism, the sensory excess makes it unsuitable for families: it prioritizes shock over subtlety, leaving little room for healthy dialogue without mature accompaniment.
