In-depth analysis

Silvia Prieto presents a simple and repetitive plot that revolves around name coincidences and fortuitous encounters. The protagonist decides to cease using marijuana and seek stable employment, which marks a realistic starting point. The story then shifts to Mar del Plata, where several people sharing her name appear, generating absurd yet contained situations. The tone is dry and observational, without appealing to easy emotion nor to dramatic turns. There is no violence, sexual scenes, nor relevant coarse language. The central theme is identity understood as something fragile and haphazard, treated with humorous distance rather than with philosophical depth. The initial mention of abandoning marijuana is presented as a positive decision and not as a normalized or celebrated element. The film avoids any agenda regarding gender, family, or aggressive moral relativism. Its greatest interest lies in showing how coincidences can dislodge the perception a person has of themselves, without reaching pessimistic or celebratory conclusions.
