In-depth analysis

This French festival film is an erotic thriller set in a gay cruising area (a nude beach frequented by homosexual men). The camera lingers on explicit sex scenes between men, featuring full frontal nudity and sexual acts shown without cuts. The plot follows Franck, who witnesses Michel drowning his previous partner in the lake, but nonetheless initiates a sexual relationship with him, fascinated by the danger. The work completely naturalizes homosexuality: it is not a subject of conflict or debate; it is simply the entire universe of the film. The director uses the language of auteur cinema to present this reality as a given, without questioning. The violence is moderate (one murder, psychological tension), but the problematic core is twofold: the graphic sexual content and the complete normalization of homosexual relationships presented as part of the natural human landscape. The technical quality (cinematography, performances) does not mitigate the underlying concern nor the visual explicitness. Not recommended under any circumstances for a family audience.
